- Yom Hasho’a – Israel’s Holocaust Memorial Day, set on the date of the Warsaw Ghetto uprising – April 24, 7.30pm
With Chazan Albi Chait and the UHC choir, the Zone’s film about Holocaust denial, the HSFA, and with community members and dignitaries, we focus on bravery and heroism, and say loud and clear “Never again”.
- Yom Hazikaron – Israel’s Memorial Day for the Fallen Soldiers and Victims of Terror – April 30, 7.30pm
Based on experiences and stories from people in our own community, and telling a true story from the Yom Kippur war, we focus on how Yom Hazikaron affect all of us, in Israel and in Britain. With Shira Colombick, our Shinshinit Daria, and your friends in Leeds sharing their personal stories.
- Yom Ha’atzmaut – Israel’s 69th Independence Day! – May 2, doors for festival and food open at 6.30pm, show starts at 7.40pm
With plenty of activities for youth lead by our community’s Zionist youth movements; clowns and jugglers; photo booth to make a souvenir to take with you; Israeli Falafel dinner!
Amazing Israeli band; message from the Israeli Embassy; the Brodetsky choir; Daria’s Brodetsky dance group; and loads of laughs with our host.
YOM HA’ATZMAUT – Israeli Independence Day
Makor organizes large scale events to commemorate and celebrate Israel’s independence and continuation.
A large event is staged at a theatre venue and is carefully programmed to appeal to the whole community.
YOM HASHOAH – Holocaust Memorial Day
Yom Hashoah remembrance ceremonies for the whole community and interactive sessions in addition to Jewish assemblies in schools are led by the Shaliach (Israeli Emissary) and the Makor team.
